SYMETRIE received the Gold Micron in the “Microtechnical equipment on production or laboratory machines” category at Micronora exhibition on September 27, 2022 in Besancon, France, for its MAUKA hexapod, an innovative low-profile positioning system.

The Gold Microns and Nano competition rewards the most innovative products, presented for the first time at Micronora, the major trade fair in the microtechnology and precision sector in Europe.

The trophy was awarded to the two co-founders of SYMETRIE, Olivier Lapierre, President, and Thierry Roux, CTO, by Jean Verillac, Director of Business and Engineering at Banque Populaire de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, official partner of the Gold Microns and Nano competition.

Olivier Lapierre declared “We are very honored to receive this prize, it provides the recognition of the quality of our products, which is the fruit of the work and perseverance of all our employees.”
The MAUKA hexapod can position loads up to 5 kg with a resolution of 0.5 μm in translation and 5 μrad in rotation in the six degrees of freedom. Its small footprint of 107 mm makes it ideal for applications such as telescopes or optical instrumentation needing a small occultation.
To minimize its diameter, a hexaglide architecture where motors are mounted in line has been used, unlike a classic Stewart platform hexapod.
