Shear Piezos are based on the d31-effect. The mechanical force acts perpendicular to the applied electrical field.(In contrast to the normally used d33-effect which is parallel to the direction of the field) Simple Shear plates are used as accelerometers.Typical applications for shear stacks are slip-stick motors.
We offer standard shear plates in the dimensions of 3x3mm, 4x4mm, 5x5mm 10x10mm and 16x16mm. (thickness 0.5…1mm).
Based on these components we also supply PICA™ shear stacks having a large amplitude and being ready for vacuum applications.
